HOLIDAY PARTY

TBD...

Fall Rally

Hosts: Club Officers
When: September 2nd - September 7th, 2025
Where: Timber Ridge Resort in Traverse City, MI

Traverse City, Michigan, here we come! Our fall rally will coincide with the GMCMI Rally this fall, and will be hosted by our Club Officers.

Reservations: To make reservations for the GMCMI Rally, please use this link. Spot are very limited!

The plan is to caravan out to MI together, and to pick up fellow GMCers as we make our way to the rally. We are working out the details still, and will have to those that are going, in early August.

One stop that we do know, is on Monday, September 1st, Lester Duncan has offered for us to stay the night at his house, in Gladstone, MI. He has 13 acres to park GMC's and has electrical hookups via extension cords. Lester’s place is located on the northern route of our trip; we’ll go over the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and come into Traverse City by means of the Mackinaw Bridge. From Lester’s place to Traverse City, it is roughly 4 1/2 hours or 264 miles. Please know, caravanning is optional; we know some of our club plan to travel on different days, or like

to take different routes and see the countryside.

For those that aren’t able to make it to the rally, we’ll be sure to post pictures, take notes of anything cool and unique, and share stories when we get together for the Christmas Party.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, or if you need help along the way. I’ll bringing my tools to ward off the bad juju of a long trip like this!

SPRING RALLY

Prairie's Edge Casino & Resort

Host: Rodney & Brenda Gens

Date: June 12th - 15th, 2025

Location: 5616 Prairies Edge Ln, Granite Falls, MN 56241

To make your reservation, please call the Prairie View RV Campground at 320-564-6043.

Our June 12-15th, 2025 rally will be held during the Fagen Fighter's WWII Museum's air show. The campground's phone number is 320-564-6043. B.P. & Shawn are who I've spoken to. If you call before the campground opens in April, your call will be directed to the Casino reception desk & they can make reservations for you. We have 20 sites that reserved under my name 'Brenda Gens' with our Greater Midwest Classics group. The site #'s are 2-12 and 16-24. Sites 6, 7 & 8 have been reserved the last time I checked with the campground. When you call to make reservations, the site will be updated and will be under your name. The campground host said the sites per night will be between $50-$60 a night- we'll know the exact cost in the next newsletter. If you were with our group in June of 2023, your name & information will be in their computer. The campground sites are considered the same as a room at the hotel, so we have access to all those amenities, including the indoor swimming pool. I will be contacting the campground and Fagen Fighters Museum in April and will update you through the Spring newsletter.

Brenda & Rodney Gens

As rally hosts, Rodney & I want to thank each and every one of you for taking time out of your busy lives to attend our rally! What fun it is to share smiles, hugs and to spend time with each other. Every one of you is a vital part of our GMC family! We had 16 GMC's with 27 members and 6 guests throughout our weekend together. We were sorry Braden, Carrie and kids were unable to join us at the last minute. I want to let you know that I've spoken to Braden and their medical emergency was resolved and for that we are thankful. We look forward to having you join us soon!

As I told our group, if you have never hosted a rally and are a little nervous about doing so, please don't be! We had some unplanned incidents happen and as our group IS a family, they took it all in stride with encouragement, understanding and by helping with anything that needed to be done. Our first happened 5 miles from home, with a complete stall in the middle of a major traffic detour on a 2-lane overpass. Luckily, a MN State Trooper was in the line of traffic and provided us with some much-needed warning lights. We pushed the coach with our attached Tracker to the nearest gas station. After some mechanical investigation and gas tank banging, it was discovered that even though the fuel gauge said Full, it was actually very, very empty! So instead of your rally hosts greeting you as you rolled into the rally, we were greeted by our guests. And a good thing most of us use the GPS on our phones for maps, because we forgot our GMC road signs that tell you how to find the campground.

One thing about the weather we had during our time together-like all true Midwesterners-it gave us something to talk about! Cold, rain for three of our four days, wind, cold, mud, rain and yes, it was not very good campfire weather though a few hardy souls gave it a shot. But there were positive conversations going on too. We were at a wonderful campground with cement pads, blacktopped roads, a semi-enclosed shelter to gather in and we had clean, hot showers available. Our grandson Weston sure enjoyed the indoor pool at the motel in our cold, wet weather. We didn't have to battle mosquitos or flies. We didn't get sunburned. We had a chance to wear those heavy coats we always pack in our GMCs but never get to use. We had a great tour at the Fagen Fighter's WWII museum with 29 attending.

We shared good food and conversations. We had a new to the club member, Betsy in her
23' GMC, join us for the first time. We actually had three 23' there! So, in the end, we left each other still smiling and glad we got to be together and looking forward to our next rally!

Brenda Gens, President

15 GMC coaches, and one SOB were at the rally, attended by 27 adults, 6 children and one guest. Time in the river, bonfires, and great company for meals in the hall at the campground.
